By Michael Baginski/ It doesn’t seem right that it was only as recently 2022 that the great Carly Simon was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. After all, the New York (City)-born singer had 13 top 40 hits in the 1970s and ‘80s, notably including the theme song for the James Bond film “Nobody Does It Better” – song that summed up her career
And while that soundtrack reached No. 2, it didn’t quite match her 1972 signature song
“You’re So Vain” – a tune almost as famous for the who “you” was referring to as for going all the way to the top of the pops.
It also seems impossible that Simon is somehow now 82 years old, and it is heart-warming that generations crossed at her Hall induction with a performance of the song by Olivia Rodrigo, 19 years old at the time, and if I may say so, perhaps on track for the Hall herself one day.
