By MICHAEL BAGINSKI/ You might remember him from such movies as “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Tim Curry, of course, had many roles beyond the iconic Dr. Frank-N-Furter, both in film and on stage, but he’ll always be remembered as the cross-dressing transexual from Transylvania.
His acting career included many other memorable roles, but Curry, who died Aug. 25 (on the same day as Dolly Parton – two monumental losses) at age 80 also dabbled in a music career, recording three albums.
His 1979 album “Fearless” rendered the marginal hit, “I Do the Rock,” which reached No. 91 on the Billboard chart. And
His style incorporated rock, reggae, pop, and the theatrical balladry that had made “Sweet Transvestite,” “I Can Make You a Man,” and “I’m Going Home” (video below) staples of the Rocky Horror soundtrack.
But, musically, and theatrically, Curry will always be Frank-N-Furter, and we’ll remember, with sadness, the day he went away.
