By MICHAEL BAGINSKI/ Some situations just call for Bad Manners. The band, that is. And I think the world could use a little more of the effervescent British “two-tone” outfit led by the irrepressible singer Douglas Trendle (aka Buster Bloodvessel) right about now.
An integral part of the British ska revival of the early 1980s, I discovered the band while lingering in London during the summer of 1981 and brought them back to my friends, inspiring life-long devotion to both the band and the infectious musical style.
With ska-ed up versions of familiar songs like “Monster Mash,” “Caledonia,” “Magnificent Seven,” and “My Girl Lollipop,” fun and frolic are Bad Manners’ manic modus operandi, as with other tunes like “Lip Up Fatty,” “Ne-Ne Na-Na Na-Na Nu-Nu” – and our video this week, the band’s version of The Heptones’ fabulous “Fatty Fatty.”
Never mind the ancient video tech, it just adds to the vibe. In Buster we trust!
Lyrics
I really love you fatty fat
Fatty fatty yeah
I really love you fatty fat
Fatty fatty yeah
I love your body when you drop off your body
I love your body when you lie down very low
I love your body when you shake off your body
I love your body when you’re sliding very slow
I really love you fatty fat
Fatty fatty yeah
I really love you fatty fat
Fatty fatty yeah
I love your body when you shake off your body
I love your body when you lie down very low
I love your body when you break off your body
Seems to me that you do it very slow
I really love you fatty fat
Fatty fatty yeah
I really love you fatty fat
Fatty fatty yeah
I really love you fatty fat
Fatty fatty yeah
I really love you fatty fat
Fatty fatty yeah
I love your body when you drop off your body
I love your body when you lie down very low
I love your body when you shake off your body
I love your body when you’re sliding very slow
I really love you fatty fat
Fatty fatty yeah
I really love you fatty fat
Fatty fatty yeah
