09 SEP 2013: The Prince Edward Island provincial government is spending $300,000 to wine and dine 125 travel writers from around the world this week. The hope is the journalists will be wooed into writing stories, blogs or features that could inspire would-be travellers into booking Canadian vacations.

The annual GoMedia Marketplace - organized by the Canadian Tourism Commission - brings journalists together with 150 agents from Canadian destinations.

The journalists will take part in a series of 12-minute meetings with the agents, who will promote their destinations.

Tourism Minister Robert Henderson says the event offers more value than ordinary advertising.

Journalists and editors from as far away as Japan, India and Australia are expected to attend.
