Skal Toronto and Toronto North celebrated 68 years of golfing together yesterday (Wednesday) – and prominent Skal member Thom Vincent has been around for all of them, joked Toronto chapter president Sue Webb.
All kidding aside, the annual tournament, which brought together ‘Skalleagues’ and industry friends at the Royal Ontario Golf Course in Milton, Ont., is “a pretty special legacy,” said Webb.
Indeed, 65 golfers and a dozen or so others turned out to “do business with friends,” (as per the Skal motto) on the course and subsequent barbecue luncheon.
There were prizes aplenty – both of the top golfer and raffle kinds, for attendees, including a trip from tournament sponsor excoticca, whose director of sales for Canada Diana Winters told the audience that the new (to Canada) tour company is looking to make waves in the industry and with Canadian consumers. “We do bucket list travel without bucket list prices,” she said, adding to Travel Industry Today, “We’re disruptors! Tell your friends.”
At a Skal event, that’s the whole point.
