Visit St. Pete-Clearwater, which counts Dunedin, Fla., – spring training home of the Toronto Blue Jays – among its constituencies, says it “couldn’t be prouder” that the team has reached the World Series this year for the first time in 32 years.
“We love the Jays and are supporting them from their second home,” Rosemarie Payne, Director, Leisure Sales – US & Canada for Visit St. Pete-Clearwater, wrote us in an email.
Watch parties
For those who are in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater/Dunedin area, the city will host community watch parties for every game, inviting fans to come together to celebrate.
The watch party for Game 1 today (Oct. 24) and Game 2 (Sat. Oct. 25) will be held at TD Ballpark, the team’s spring training venue. Fans will be able to watch the games on the big screen in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Both stadium and lawn seating (outfield) will be available (so bring chairs and blankets along). Gates will open at 7 p.m. with all games starting at 8 p.m. Admission is free and food and beverages will be available for purchase. (No tents, pets, coolers or outside alcohol will be permitted).
Watch parties for Games 3, 4 and 5 will be held at Pioneer Park. Follow the City of Dunedin Facebook page for updates and additional event details as they become available.
“Dunedin has been the proud spring training home of the Toronto Blue Jays for 49 years. Every spring we watch these players train on our fields and become part of our community. Now we get to cheer them on as they take on the LA Dodgers. Let’s go Blue Jays!” crowed Mayor Maureen “Moe” Freaney.
