FLAIR FOR THE DRAMATIC: Enhancements ‘just beginning’ at transformed airline

Six months ago, Flair Airlines announced “Flair FWD,” a series of “transparent and customer-centric” experience enhancements the ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCCD) promised will “deliver the best value in the Canadian skies without losing the affordable prices.” So, where does the airline’s bold initiative stand, er, fly?

“Since launching Flair FWD, our teams have been hard at work, listening to our customers, reviewing our policies, and investing in delivering a better travel experience,” said Maciej Wilk, CEO of Flair Airlines. “The work is not over…. If anything, the work is just beginning.”

Over the past several months, Flair says it has already made several improvements, from booking to the baggage claim:

What’s new with Flair FWD

 Already here:

  • New website: Customers will experience a simpler and faster flyflair.com, built on modern AWS technology. The redesigned website streamlines the entire journey, making it easier to shop, select, and book flights.
  • Boarding passes for all: Based on customer feedback, digital boarding passes are now sent to every customer upon completing check in (eliminating the need to check paper passes). “We hate lines. We don’t want you standing in an extra one,” says Flair.
  • Delay & disruption information with the real story: Passengers will receive “the real story” behind any flight delays, not boilerplate declarations of disruptions.
  • On-time guarantee: Customers on all flights with a delay of 60 minutes or more receive a $60 e-voucher for next time.
  • Apple AirTag bag tracking: Through a partnership with Apple, automated bag tracking can be utilized through Apple AirTag technology.

Coming soon:

  • Flair Express: Launching, Dec. 3, any customer who purchases a carry-on bag, whether through the Lite/MAX bundles or separately, will get Flair Express, which allows customers to board in the first boarding group, through a dedicated line, and will only be required to physically put your bag in the sizer if they “bring the kitchen sink.”
  • New bundles: Customers can expect to see four new bundles Basic, Lite, Plus, and MAX to be rolled out in the coming months.
  • Ticket resale with Fairlyne: Launching in December, Flair will be North America’s first airline to offer ticket resale through Fairlyne. Passengers who can’t make their flight may be able to sell the seat back to Flair if it is popular, which also enable to airline to resell the ticket (thus helping keep fares low).
  • Flair Vacations: With Flair’s further expansion into the Caribbean and Latin America (Mexico City launches Oct. 27 and Montego Bay launches Dec. 14), the airline will launch Flair Vacations with HBX in December, enabling client to package air and hotels.

“We’ve always been a value carrier, but value is about more than price; it’s also a feeling,” says Flair Chief Commercial Officer Eric Tanner. “We aim to show Canadians everywhere that Flair is different than what it once was. New Flair is reliable, transparent, and customer centric. We can’t wait to welcome you onboard.”

With a growing fleet of fuel-efficient Boeing 737 aircraft, Flair connects 25 cities across Canada, the U.S., Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica.
