Tourism Ireland, in collaboration with Air Canada and four travel industry partners from Ireland, celebrated the 30th anniversary of Riverdance with travel trade professionals in Vancouver last week, following a similar event in Toronto earlier in the spring.
As part of the special celebration, the tourist board hosted an exclusive event aimed at strengthening ties with Canadian travel trade professionals in Western Canada, showcasing the very best of Ireland’s travel offerings while promoting Air Canada’s non-stop seasonal service to Dublin from Vancouver.
Top producing travel partners gathered for a VIP reception at Ireland’s Consulate in Vancouver, followed by a live performance of “Riverdance – The New Generation.” Guests were also given an exclusive backstage opportunity to meet the show’s lead dancers, pose for photos, and even take part in an Irish dancing lesson – bringing them one step closer to the magic of Ireland.
‘Riverdance offers a powerful window into the heart of Ireland – its vibrant culture, timeless traditions, and boundless creativity,” said Sandra Moffatt, Country Director Canada, Tourism Ireland. “We’re proud to showcase this extraordinary production, featuring a world-class cast, including talented Canadian dancers. It’s an honour to be able to share this cultural phenomenon with our travel partners, inspiring them to bring even more visitors to the island of Ireland”
The event shone a spotlight on Ireland’s diverse appeal as a year-round destination – from world-renowned festivals like Halloween, which has its roots in ancient Irish tradition, and the festive winter season, to globally celebrated golf courses, unforgettable destination weddings, and tailor-made group experiences for corporate, incentive and leisure clients.
Air Canada’s seasonal direct service from Vancouver to Dublin enhances connectivity from Western Canada and supports seasonal non-stop service from Montreal as well as year-round connectivity from Toronto.
Among the Irish partners in attendance were Visit Belfast, the Glen Keen Farm historic estate on the Wild Atlantic Way; Event Partners Ireland – a full-service Destination Management Company (DMC) operating across the island of Ireland; and Visit Cork.
