DISCOVER AMERICA CANADA: Trade invited to celebrate life of Casey Canevari

Friends and colleagues of Casey Canevari are being invited by Discover America Canada to an event honouring the memory of the late Brand USA Director of Global Trade Development (Canada). The DAC’s annual holiday season gathering in Toronto, dedicated to Canevari, takes place on Thursday (Dec. 4) and will raise funds for his family.

A “dear friend and industry partner” of many in the travel industry in this country and an enthusiastic proponent of the Canadian market, Canaveri fell ill in Toronto at the start of Brand USA’s second annual trade mission to Canada on April 28 and died in hospital several days later.

“A cherished non-voting board member at Discover America Canada, Casey was a unifying force in our industry and played an important role in helping to shape the organization’s events, membership growth and partnerships,” DAC said in a release. “Casey’s sudden passing earlier this year left a profound impact on the Canada-U.S. travel community and his passion for connecting people and unwavering support of Canadian partners helped strengthen the bridge between Canada and U.S. travel.”

Discover America Canada is working closely with Canevari’s family, including his wife Christine (who will attend), and Brand USA to ensure that the event “reflects the spirit of the man we all admired and is honoured.”

DAC says friends and colleagues of Canevari will have a special memory box to place stories or tributes to serve as a memento for his family. Attendees are also encouraged to wear purple to raise awareness of epilepsy in his honour.
