With the expanded international air agreement between Canada and Panama, Copa Airlines says it will increase frequencies between the countries in 2024, culminating in daily service between both Toronto and Montreal starting May 20 and 21 respectively.
Increased service will to Panama City will begin in March with additional frequencies. Connections are also available to more than 60 Central America, South America and Caribbean destinations beyond the carrier’s hub.
Copa notes that PTA boasts an average connecting time of less than 50 minutes and that passengers don’t need to pass through immigration or customs procedures in Panama, while luggage is checked on to the final destination.
Laura Marin, Sales Manager of Copa Airlines in Canada reminds that passengers can also take advantage of the carrier’s free stop-over program while travelling through Panama.
“Copa expanding to daily service on its Toronto-Panama route will add 50% more seats over the course of the year,” said Khalil Lamrabet, Chief Commercial Officer, Greater Toronto Airports Authority. “Providing increased choice and connectivity across Copa’s network makes perfect sense when more than 70% of passengers are connecting onwards, many of whom are traveling to destinations that do not have direct service from Canada, such as Uruguay and Bolivia.”
“ADM Aéroports de Montréal is delighted with the expanded bilateral air agreement with Panama, which will enable our partner Copa Airlines to enhance its service to and from YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport. A vibrant Latin American country, Panama offers an exceptional gateway for tourists and business travellers through its important Hub of the Americas, towards Central and South America and the Caribbean. With flights scheduled in off-peak time slots, Copa is also aligned with our international airport’s growth strategy, which will benefit the entire community,” added Yves Beauchamp, President and CEO of ADM Aéroports de Montréal.
