The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reports that it intercepted a total of 6,678 firearms at airport security checkpoints south of the border in 2024, equating to 7.4 firearms per million people. Shockingly, 94 percent of them were loaded.

B.C. BEARS BENEFIT FROM ECO-TOURISM ‘DONE RIGHT’

Grizzly bears that visited ecotourism areas along a river on the province’s central coast were less likely than others to encounter conflict with people in communities downstream, a new study by British Columbia-based researchers has found. DON’T DRINK AND FLY: Pilot charged with DUI before flight

Police at a Georgia airport arrested an airline pilot on a DUI charge as he was making pre-flight checks aboard a Southwest Airlines flight with bloodshot eyes and reeking of what smelled like alcohol, according to a police report. Passengers had boarded the Southwest Airlines flight from Savannah to Chicago and were awaiting takeoff when police boarded the plane and took the pilot away in handcuffs.

LUFTHANSA BUY ENDS UNCERTAINTY FOR FORMER ALITALIA

Germany’s Lufthansa Group finalized its acquisition of Italian airline ITA Airways on Friday, closing a long period of uncertainty for Italy’s former flagship carrier. Under the 325-million-euro ($483 million) deal, Lufthansa takes an initial 41% stake in ITA, formerly Alitalia, from the Italian government, gaining full control by 2033.

AN ACT OF ‘STUPIDITY’: Pakistan Airlines ad causes stir
