In the first four months of 2026, Embratur says Brazil achieved the best results in the history of international tourist arrivals from 10 of the main source markets to the country. In April alone, Colombia, China, Mexico, Portugal, Peru, Canada, the UK, Chile, Australia and Uruguay sent together more than 1.1 million visitors to Brazilian destinations. The total number of arrivals in the first four months of 2026, was 4,333,423.
Canada’s contributed 51,062 visitors, recording its best-ever performance with a growth of 12.9%.
Colombia posted the greatest growth, with 37.2% more visits than previously recorded in 2025, reaching 70,332 visitors. China also registered strong progress, with an increase of 33.6% and 39,880 tourists during the period. Mexico has grown 33.4%, reaching 46,963 international visitors.
The first quarter results follow a 9.2 million international tourists for the South American country in 2025 – an unprecedented mark for the country, according to president of Embratur, Bruno Reis.
“The strategic actions of international promotion, expansion of air connectivity and strengthening of Brazil’s image abroad have been decisive for the continuous growth of foreign visitor numbers, said Reis.
The accumulated number of international tourist arrivals from January to April 2026 was in part due to a 16% increase in air arrivals in the country, which concentrate travellers with a higher average daily ticket and stay longer at destinations.
Embratur notes that it has been investing in the Feel Brasil platform, expanding its digital promotion, and implementing segmented actions to present the international market with experiences aligned with new global demands for sustainability, authenticity, and positive impact tourism. Strategic products included Sun and Beach, Nature, Culture, Gastronomy, and Experiential Tourism.
