BIGGER IS BETTER AT NEW NUNAUT AIRPORT TERMINAL

Nunavut’s new Rankin Inlet airport building is now operational. Originally planned to open in April, the building is over three times the size of the old one.

Construction on the terminal began in 2022. The second phase of the project will involve knocking down the old airport building.

“The new air terminal building will provide long-term benefits to the community of Rankin Inlet and travellers from the Kivalliq region, providing a fully accessible, barrier-free facility, with additional seating and more spacious environment while proudly showcasing a stunning collection of the region’s arts and crafts,” stated Greg Belanger, manager of communications for the Government of Nunavut’s Transportation and Infrastructure department.
