The Hong Kong Tourism Board has introduced a new Director for Canada. Based in her home city, Toronto native Beverly Cheng brings a global perspective to the HKTB, shaped by more than a decade living and working in Hong Kong.
With a career spanning arts and travel journalism, international hospitality communications, and cultural institution leadership, she brings deep expertise in storytelling, strategic marketing, and destination branding to the role.
Cheng began her career in Hong Kong as an arts journalist and later held senior communications roles with global hospitality brands, including Marriott International, where she led communications for a portfolio of 16 hotel brands across Asia Pacific. Most recently, she served as Head of Marketing, Communications and Visitor Experience at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto.
Deeply connected to Hong Kong both personally and professionally, Cheng is passionate about showcasing the city as a world-class destination for Canadian travellers, highlighting its award-winning culinary scene and vibrant arts and culture landscape, as well as easy access to nature, vibrant events, and seamless connectivity.
“It is truly an honour to lead Hong Kong Tourism Board in Canada, a role that is deeply meaningful to me. As both a Torontonian and a Hongkonger, I am excited to help Canadians rediscover Hong Kong through its unique energy, culture, world-class dining, arts, and natural beauty,” says Cheng.
In her new role, Cheng will focus on strengthening partnerships and delivering compelling, insight-driven campaigns that inspire Canadians to experience Hong Kong through stories and moments that can only be found in the city.
Holding a Master’s degree in Arts Management from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Art History from University of Toronto, she is fluent in English, Cantonese, and French, with intermediate proficiency in Spanish.
