Abercrombie & Kent is building a new Nile riverboat, its fifth in Egypt, which will launch in late 2025. Promising that it will be “the finest new craft on the Nile,” the tour company says the boutique boat will “herald a new golden age of river cruising in Egypt.”
A&K says it has designed the boat to an extremely high spec, with all the facilities and services of a high-end floating hotel. It will feature two restaurants – indoor and outdoor – serving world-class food made with locally sourced ingredients, along with a spa, a gym, elegant social spaces, a swimming pool, and a sundeck for relaxation between excursions.
The name of the new Nile riverboat will be revealed in the coming months.
Since the company’s early days of creating bespoke journeys along the Nile, A&K has always sought to give travellers behind-the-scenes access and insider perspectives in to Egypt. The new boat will carry on this legacy, promising to be A&K’s most immersive Nile cruise experience yet.
With a hand-picked crew including renowned Egyptologists, the boutique riverboat aims to feel like a private floating basecamp from which intimate and exclusive encounters with the living history along the Nile are launched daily.
Living quarters will far surpass the typical standards for luxury Egyptian river cruises, with some of the most generously proportioned and well-appointed suites on the market. Each of its 32 elegant cabins will have floor-to-ceiling windows and Juliet balconies above the water, marble bathrooms and 400-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets; while two presidential suites will be unprecedented in size and luxury, each with an outdoor hot tub on their own private decks.
The new boat will also be available for private charters. A&K already operates four boutique river boats on the Nile: the Nile Adventurer, Sun Boat III, Sun Boat IV, and Zein Nile Chateau; and this fifth launch further cements Abercrombie & Kent’s reputation as the leading travel specialist in Egypt.
“Nobody knows Egypt better than Abercrombie & Kent,” said Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group. “We pioneered luxury Nile cruises more than four decades ago, and every year we continue to further elevate this enchanting voyage, with extraordinary experiences at every stage of the journey, accompanied by Egyptologists and storytellers to bring Egypt’s luminous history to life.”
A&K has a longstanding relationship with the Nile, which dates back to 1977 when founder Geoffrey Kent, inspired by an encounter with David Niven on the set of “Death on the Nile,” launched the company’s first Nile river cruise.
Since then, A&K has continued offering elevated experiences in Egypt, thanks in part to the company’s network of experts, ranging from leading Egyptologists to well-connected fixers who can arrange anything from private after-hours access inside the Pyramids of Giza to intimate dinners inside ancient temples.
Construction has already begun at Massara Shipyard in Egypt and is expected to be completed in Autumn 2025.
