AC80 lands in Tel Aviv on Oct. 9

AIR CANADA RESUMES FLIGHTS TO ISRAEL

Air Canada resumed flights to Israel late last week (Oct. 9), the latest carrier to return to Israel following similar moves by United and Delta. The Canadian carrier had been scheduled to resume service to Tel Aviv (TLV) on Sept. 8 but postponed implementation by a month due to what it called “geopolitical uncertainly in the region.”

On a post on Instagram, the airport wrote. “Today, a plane from Air Canada, the national airline of Canada, landed at Ben Gurion Airport after more than a year, marking the airline’s return to operations. The company will operate four weekly flights on the Tel Aviv-Toronto route and plans to increase flight frequency and add another destination in the future. We welcome the airline’s return to Ben Gurion and are pleased to offer travellers more options.”

A posted video also showed the Air Canada pilots in the cockpit after arrival, one of them stating, “Good morning from Air Canada flight 8-0, it’s great to return here to Tel Aviv after some time away. Shalom, we’re excited to be back and resuming service.”

The Jerusalem Post meanwhile reported that British Airways and Iberia Express are also expected to resume daily flights to Tel Aviv from Oct. 26 “following the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan.”

It added that Scandinavian Airlines will also resume its Tel Aviv-Copenhagen route with three flights every week, after nearly 10-year break in service and that Greece’s Sky Express is planning to launch daily flights from Athens starting on Dec. 2.
