By MICHAEL BAGINSKI/ Every year, Saint Lucia’s Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa does “a ton” of enhancements to ensure the popular all-inclusive remains fresh for guests, and this year is no exception. During the resort’s annual fall closing, CBBR will totally renovate its family side – the Splash wing – following 2025’s makeover of the adult’s-only Harmony side.
The initiative is part of US$16-million investment that is the most extensive renovation program in the property’s 20-plus-year history, which also includes enhancements to dining, wellness, recreation, technology, and guest services.
All told, guests will essentially discover a brand-new resort, says Coconut Bay VP of Marketing and Sales, Natalia Greene, who was in Toronto last week with the resorts’ Canadian BDM, Suzanne Fleming, to share the news about the long-time Canadian favourite resort with travel advisors at a series of lunch and learns.
As for the upcoming work on the Splash half of the resort, which will be ready for the resort’s winter re-opening (in October), the renovation will feature:
- 125 new, fully rebuilt accommodations, not simply refreshed rooms.
- Modern spa-style bathrooms with walk-in showers.
- Hand-crafted mahogany furnishings showcasing Saint Lucian craftsmanship.
- Upgraded pools, waterpark, dining venues, and wellness facilities.
- New Concierge guest Welcome Suite with private check-in and personalized service.
- Improved connectivity through resort-wide Wi-Fi enhancements, and,
- Continued reinvestment in guest comfort and Premium All-Inclusive resort amenities.
Located minutes from Hewanorra International Airport, the 250-resort four-star resort (and its neighbouring sister property, couples-only Serenity at Coconut Bay), offer an expansive 35-hectare oceanfront setting (with 1.6-km-long beach) on Saint Lucia’s south coast, close to many island attractions.
Facilities and amenities include nine restaurants, seven bars serving premium brand spirits, five pools including two for adults-only at Harmony, a full-service salon and oceanfront spa, the island’s largest waterpark, supervised Kidz Klub, free in-room Wi-Fi, concierge service, nightly entertainment, themed dinners and full-service weddings including the exclusive Eternity Beach setting.
Sports and fitness offerings include a kitesurfing (in season) and windsurfing centre, tennis courts, basketball courts, snorkelling, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, paintball, a fitness centre and daily activities including yoga and Pilates classes and turtle watching (in season).
Serenity
Luxurious Serenity, meanwhile, boasts 36 plunge-pool butler suites – each unique – featuring four-poster mahogany beds; in-room personalized bar (fill out the wish list before arriving); outdoor patio and shower; and more. The resort has its own pool, restaurant, and bar and reserved beach cabanas – ideal for a picnic lunch packed by guests’ personal butler.
Greene noted that Serenity guests can split stays between the two resorts – especially ideal for a family wedding at Coconut Bay and honeymoon at the even more luxurious Serenity, she suggested – though reminded that while guests at the latter can play at the former, the reciprocal benefits don’t extend both ways. Elaborate wedding packages are available at both resorts.
To celebrate the new-look resort, a number of incentives are being offered for both consumers and travel advisors:

GETTING THERE
While Canadians have plenty of options to reach Saint Lucia with both Air Canada and WestJet, Greene notes that flights are more plentiful during the winter months, meaning agents should be attuned to shoulder and low-season schedules.
“We (Saint Lucia) are not a mass market destination like Jamaica or the Dominican Republic – and there are no thousand-room hotels. Understand the fall lift and understand the winter lift.
“So, book early,” she advises. “If you wait until January, we won’t have rooms.”
Both resorts were recently named in the top 1% worldwide by Tripadvisor reviewers.
