ACTA HAS A YEN FOR JAPAN: Announces conference dates for Yokohama

ACTA has wowed members with the announcement that the association will hold its third annual International Destination Conference this year in Japan. Following massively successful events in Spain and Azores/Portugal the past two years, ACTA is partnering with the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) to host qualified travel advisors in Yokohama, Nov. 29-Dec. 4.

“Canadians are travelling further and staying longer, with strong renewed interest in Asia. Hosting in Japan provides our members with a valuable opportunity to deepen their destination knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and return better equipped to serve their clients,” said Suzanne Acton-Gervais, President, ACTA.

The collaboration highlights a shared commitment to education, destination development and long-term growth within the Canadian travel trade, says ACTA. Final details of the itinerary are to be confirmed, but a preliminary version can be viewed at Japan-Itinerary.

Registration and fees

Travel advisors must apply online before midnight PST, Tuesday, March 3. The registration form can be found at ACTA – Association of Canadian Travel Agencies and Travel Advisors .

Only ACTA Member Travel Advisors will be considered, with priority given to those holding a CTC or CTM designation. Companions are not permitted. Those selected to attend will be notified by March 12 and participants will be required to agree to ACTA’s Code of Ethics and submit a non-refundable conference fee. Full payment will be processed on June 1.

The registration fee is CDN$799 CAD for CTC and CTM members and $899 CAD for ACTA members. Airfare is not included; however, ACTA is working with airline partners to secure discounted rates. Flight saving details will be shared upon acceptance.

Participants are also welcome to travel to arrive prior to the conference dates but will be required to meet the group at the designated location on the official start day.

Rates are based on single occupancy and includes transfers, accommodations, food and beverage, based on the custom itinerary.

“We are delighted to welcome ACTA to Japan and to share firsthand the culture, hospitality and regional diversity for which the country is known,” said Yuka Suzuki, Executive Director of the Japan National Tourism Organization’s Toronto Office. “Canada continues to be a strong market for Japan tourism and as we come off another record-breaking year, we look forward to strengthening our partnerships to create meaningful, inspiring experiences for Canadian travellers in the years ahead.”
