PORTER LAUNCHES MONTREAL-NASSAU FLIGHTS: Joins Phoenix first from YVR, YOW

Porter Airlines inaugurated nonstop flights between Montreal-Trudeau International Airport and Nassau, Bahamas on Thursday, marking the airline’s first Caribbean service from Montreal. The winter seasonal service will operate up to three times weekly and complement existing service from Toronto Pearson and Ottawa.

“Launching our first Caribbean flight from Montreal is a great addition for travellers who want more choice and convenience when planning winter travel,” said Andrew Pierce, VP network planning and reporting, Porter Airlines.

The route is flown by Porter’s Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

“The launch of Montreal-Nassau service is a strong vote of confidence in Nassau & Paradise Island,” said Joy Jibrilu, CEO, Nassau & Paradise Island Promotion Board. “Canada remains a key area for our destination, with interest from Montreal rising and visits to our website up more than 130% from this market.

“This expanded connectivity strengthens our reach while supporting sustained, demand-led airlift, and we’re pleased to deepen our partnership with Porter Airlines and welcome even more visitors from Canada.”

Phoenix, Miami

Meanwhile, On Feb. 2, Porter Airlines launched nonstop service between Vancouver and Phoenix, the carrier’s first transborder route from Western Canada. Flights will operate daily until April 19.

The route is Porter’s third to Phoenix, joining year-round service from Toronto Pearson and seasonal Ottawa flights. Connections are also available from Phoenix through Porter’s partner, American Airlines, to destinations such as Tucson and San Diego.

As of Feb. 07, Phoenix is also accessible from Ottawa with three times weekly flights

The new U.S. route from Ottawa joins Miami, which began Jan. 24 with three weekly flights. The south Florida city is Porter’s fifth, along with Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa.

Miami and Phoenix are part of a larger expansion into sun markets from Ottawa this season, with destinations in Mexico, The Bahamas, Cayman Islands and Costa Rica operating since December.
