RIVER OF DREAMS: ACTA Summit underway with Avalon

Christmas has come early, literally, for close to 120 Canadian travel advisors who are currently sailing the Rhine on ACTA’s 3rd annual European River Cruise Summit – an Avalon Waterways roundtrip cruise from Basel, Switzerland, calling in many of the fabulous Christmas markets of Europe.

Concluding Saturday, the immersive week-long experience was designed to provide ACTA member travel advisors with an exclusive opportunity to deepen their destination and river cruise expertise and not least give a firsthand look at Avalon’s award-winning Suite Ships and immersive Active & Discovery excursions.

Attendees have been engaging in expert-led training sessions, networking with industry leaders, and experiencing Europe’s festive charm.

“ACTA’s priority is to ensure that our members have access to meaningful professional development and real-world learning opportunities that strengthen their expertise and highlight the vital role of the travel advisor,” said ACTA president Suzanne Acton-Gervais, President, ACTA.

She added, “This year’s River Cruise Summit offered an immersive educational experience, giving travel advisors dedicated time to deepen their knowledge, connect with peers and partners, and gain firsthand insight that directly supports their business growth.”

Partners for the Summit included Avalon Waterways, Switzerland Tourism and on-board partners, Air Canada and Manulife.

Denise Harper, Managing Director, Sales Canada, Globus family of brands (which includes Avalon Waterways): “We are so proud to welcome travel advisors on board the Avalon Suite Ship Panorama for this special event, designed to deepen our partnership and empower their continued success. As a company, we’re deeply committed to investing in our travel advisors’ growth through hands-on experiences, dedicated training, and innovative tools to help them thrive. This event underscores our belief that when our advisors succeed, we all succeed—and we’re excited to support their journey every step of the way.”

ACTA says planning is well underway for its 2026 destination immersive learning experiences following a fully sold-out year in 2025.
