When Rockin’1000 says it’s the Biggest Rock Band on Earth, it ain’t kidding – it’s a group comprised of 1,000 members – singers, drummers, and guitarists – that astonishingly come together in unison to play rock anthems at mega stadium concerts around the world.
Put together in 2015 in Italy as viral gimmick by music lover Fabio Zaffagnini, the initiative took on a life of its own and has evolved into “a fearless global movement that proves music transcends barriers.”
Zaffagnini says, “United by the mutual belief that collective energy and shared passion can change the world… Rockin’1000 has gone on to fill stadiums across the planet, creating magical moments that transcend language, culture, and borders. One stadium at a time, we are proving that when we focus on what unites us, we can move mountains – and crowds.”
Listening In introduced Rockin’1000 in 2021 with a performance of The Clash’s 1982 classic “Should I Stay Or Should I Go?” in Paris. Other options that can be found online include “We Will Rock You,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Fortunate Son” and “Highway to Hell” – and this week’s offering, The White Stripes’ entirely appropriate “Seven Nation Army.”
For those who want to see them, the band is preparing for its first-ever North American gig at the SuperDome in New Orleans on Jan. 31, 2026, with the promise of a special tribute to the Big Easy that will also add a horns section with trumpets, saxophones, and trombones. Tickets are now available at www.neworleans.com/rockin1000.
