Popular Cuba Tourist Board director Lessner Gomez is heading home after six years in Canada, to be replaced by Gihana Galindo, who, for the past three years, has served as Commercial Director at the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba, where she has collaborated with Canadian tour operators, giving her strong familiarity with the market and its key players.
Galindo’s appointment to the role in Toronto takes effect Oct. 15.
The Ministry of Tourism of Cuba and the Cuba Tourist Board extended their gratitude to Gomez for his “outstanding leadership and commitment to strengthening Cuba’s presence in the Canadian travel market,” adding that his contributions have “significantly enhanced tourism relations between the two countries.”
Reflecting on his time in Canada before returning to Havana, Gomez said, “It has been an incredible honour to represent Cuba in Canada. I am grateful for the strong partnerships and friendships built over the years with our Canadian travel partners. I have every confidence that Ms. Galindo will continue to grow these relationships and bring fresh energy to our ongoing efforts.”
Galindo brings extensive experience to her new role, having led several international initiatives to promote the island as a premier travel destination.
“I’m excited to continue building strong partnerships with our valued travel industry colleagues in Canada,” she said. “Together, we will tackle new challenges, seize exciting opportunities, and work to increase the number of Canadians choosing Cuba as their travel destination.”
