THE FUTURE OF ADVENTURE TRAVEL

The world’s biggest event of the year for adventure travel professionals – The 2024 Adventure Travel World Summit – is set to place Oct. 7-10 in Panama City, Panama, with registration now open until Sept. 13. This year, the Summit celebrates its 20th anniversary, while promising to look ahead to the next 20 years of the adventure travel industry.

Presented by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), the four-day event – taking place for the first time in Central America – welcomes approximately 800 tour operators, destination representatives, adventure travel writers, and thought leaders from across the globe each year to explore travel trends, celebrate milestones, and develop new connections.

Event highlights include innovative ideas from keynote speakers, panel presentations from expert voices, a destination marketplace for buyers and suppliers, a MediaConnect Session to pitch story ideas to international writers and editors and an optional “Day of Adventure” to showcase the offerings of the region through adventurous and cultural activities.

In partnership with ExpoEventos, the ATTA has collaborated with regional tourism agencies and local tour companies to craft more than 15 unique trips on Oct. 7 that aim to inspire adventure, educate, and build connection within the adventure travel community.

“Since 2017 ATTA has been working with partners in Panama to increase community-based travel in the country,” explains Gabi Stowell, ATTA’s VP, Regional Development. “Along the way, I learned so much about this amazing destination and discovered that Panama is truly a gem, filled with diverse culture and biodiversity, and endless adventure.

“In October, the entire ATTA community will gather for the first time in Central America, and I can’t wait for the world to see and experience all the things that made me fall in love with Panama.”
