WestJet is inviting Canadians to nominate a “holiday hero” – someone who will be working away from their loved ones – for the opportunity to reunite with them courtesy of the airline. The gesture is part of WestJet’s 11th annual ‘Christmas Miracle’ campaign, an initiative the company says is meant to “make the impossible possible.”
This year’s campaign shines a spotlight on the one-in-four Canadians who will be separated from a loved one over the holidays, with the airline stating, “WestJetters know all too well what it’s like to be separated from family and friends over the holidays.”
Further, WestJet says it conducted a survey of Canadians that revealed that 75% said spending time together with loved ones is most important over the holidays.
So, this year WestJet has already facilitated three surprise reunions for individuals working in industries dedicated to supporting travel during this busy time of year. They included:
- Ashley Springer, a Translink Bus Driver, reunited with his sister and nephew from New York City.
- Killian Kampes, a Valet at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, reunited with his mother and father from Dublin.
- Husan Gill, an AGI Ramp Agent at Vancouver International Airport, reunited with her childhood best friend from Prince George.
