FORT LAUDERDALE SET FOR PRIDE FEST

Greater Fort Lauderdale is set to welcome the first Pride of the Americas Festival presented by Visit Lauderdale Feb. 10-12. After several years of cancellations, the multi-faceted festival will bring concerts – including headliner Boy George – a Pride of the Americas Festival Parade, hundreds of vendors, and a two-day beach party.

“This will be the largest LGBT+ event to take place in Greater Fort Lauderdale and it comes at a crucial time in our community’s history – a time when inclusion and advocacy are paramount,” said Richard Gray, Visit Lauderdale’s Sr. VP of Inclusion and Accessibility. “When we first began planning the event, we were particularly engaged in advocating for the LGBT+ rights of people in Latin America and the Caribbean as we saw a discrepancy in treatment of individuals. But daily, we are reminded that inclusion, acceptance, and safety are international priorities, and now is the time to invite participation from a global audience.”

The festival, organized and programmed by Pride Fort Lauderdale and presented by destination organization Visit Lauderdale, was originally planned for April 2020 but was cancelled and rescheduled due to the pandemic.

After the Friday night kick-off, the two-day Pride of the Americas Festival will take place along Fort Lauderdale’s beach Feb. 11-12 with several stages of entertainment and over 125 vendors.
