29 MAR 2019: A change of pace for today’s music video. Yo-Yo Ma is undeniably one of the greatest musicians alive today. Aside from his musical virtuosity, he is a creative genius who constantly finds new ways to partner with artists and individuals in differing disciplines to create inspired and inspiring works.

In this beautiful video, he is seen on top of a city building playing the Prelude from Bach's Cello Suite No. 1.

The video opens with the message: "Culture – the way we express ourselves and understand each other – can bind us together as one world."

While the camera often returns to Ma playing on the rooftop, it also immerses the viewer in, among other scenes, a ballet studio, an ice rink, young musicians, artists in their studios and workshops – all against a backdrop of Yo-Yo Ma’s exquisite music.

The video was put together from clips that were sent to him in response to the question "Show the world how you express yourself and what brings your community together."

Yo-Yo Ma released the video earlier this year to coincide with the next stage of his two-year-long Bach Project which sees him perform Bach's music in 36 places around the world and partner with community organisations and artists in each location for 'Days of Action'.
