24 AUG 2018: We’re delighted that so many of you are enjoying the Friday music video – eclectic though our choices may be. This week’s selection follows an announcement that Michael Jackson’s Thriller – long the bestselling album of all time, has now been topped by – yes, it’s true -The Eagles Greatest Hits. (VIDEO)

The reaction is mixed, with cries and moans from many. But the band that was formed in Los Angeles in the early 1970s, and known for its soundtrack of singalongable hits blending soft rock and country music, including “Hotel California” and “Take It Easy” may be ‘easy listening’ but it made up much of the soundtrack of the seventies and appears to have had staying power.

The group broke up in 1980, coming back together 14 years later with Don Henley and Glenn Frey being the only remaining original members. Frey died in 2016, but the Grammy-winning band remains on tour.
The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and received the Kennedy Center Honor in 2016.
