23 AUG 2010: In this latest instalment, Fairmont Chateau Laurier GM Claude Sauvé goes One on One, with Ilona Kauremszky.

Where was your last trip? Business or pleasure?

I was in Cairo on business as a special assignment for Fairmont.

What’s your favourite airport? What’s the best thing about it?

The Ottawa International Airport for many reasons: it has clean lines, it’s easy to access and when I come off the plane it means I’m home.

What are your "necessity items" for a long flight?

I’m a bit of a workaholic so I must have work with me on a long flight. It puts me ahead of the game when I get to my destination.

Where’s home?

I know this will sound cliché, but for me home is where my family is. Currently this means Ottawa and Montreal.

What's your favourite getaway spot?

I love to fish in my spare time, so my getaway spot is my boat.

What three websites do you visit on a daily basis?

I usually visit our Fairmont page (fairmont.com/laurier), the CBC NEWS homepage (cbc.ca/news) and the BNN site (bnn.ca) first thing in the morning.

What are you currently reading?

My Blackberry because there are never ending stories on it.

If you could invite one internationally famous couple to join you for dinner who would they be?

Bill and Hillary Clinton because they have both made and continue to make an impact on the political scene.

What are you listening to on your I-Pod?

What’s an I-POD? Okay, I know what it is but I don’t own one. I am a closet talk radio listener, I can’t help it!

When you were a kid, what did you want to be?

A lawyer

Do you have a mentor? Who is it?

My mentor was Myles Crasten, I worked for him when I was younger, and I was his second in charge. He was an impressive Hotelier.

What trait do you admire in people?

I admire people who are loyal, both in business and in their personal lives.

What is your definition of happiness?

A sunny day; a big lake; my boat and my three sons at my side!
Of course spending time with my wife is on the same level as the above statement!
