14 JUL 2017: Heading off on a winter escape has just gotten a little bit easier for residents of Fredericton. Sunwing is increasing its direct flight service to vacation destinations from the New Brunswick city this coming winter, bringing the total to four. The new destinations are Punta Cana, Cayo Coco, Cayo Santa Maria, as well as the perennial favourite Mexican destination of Cancun.

Punta Cana will be the first Dominican Republic destination to be offered from Fredericton by the tour operator. The weekly flight service will run from February 14 until May 9, 2018.

Weekly flight services will also operate between February 13 and May 8, 2018 to two Cuban destinations: Cayo Coco and Cayo Santa Maria.

Travellers can also expect the return of weekly flight service to Cancun that will operate this season between February 12 and May 14, 2018.

Johanne Gallant, president and CEO of the Fredericton International Airport Authority, said, “The demand for all-inclusive vacations has grown continuously over the past few years, and it’s exciting to see Sunwing respond to this by adding even more choice for travellers in western and central New Brunswick.”

Travellers on the new flight service to Punta Cana could be among the first guests to experience the new Royalton Bavaro Resort & Spa that opens in early 2018 and promises to offer unlimited gourmet dining, complimentary activities like snorkelling and kayaking, and kids and teens clubs.

Also recently opened in Punta Cana, the adults only Riu Republica, offers guests a variety of dining options, lively evening entertainment, and private beachfront area.

The resort is also opening its first own adults only water park this fall.

Another perennial favourite among travellers is Bavaro Princess All Suites Resort where guests can enjoy a full entertainment programme including surfing, boogie boarding, catamaran rides, and more.
