17 JUN 2019: A massive blackout left tens of millions of people without electricity in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay on Sunday in what the Argentine president called an “unprecedented” failure in the countries' power grid. Authorities worked frantically to restore power, but 12 hours after the country went dark, more than a quarter of Argentina's 44 million people were still without power and the cause of the outage remained unclear. 17 JUN 2019: Authorities say a plane blew tires while landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, sending it skidding on the runway before coming to a halt. United Airlines said Flight 627 from Denver was landing at 1 p.m. Saturday with 166 passengers when the tires blew. MORE

17 JUN 2019: A federal judge on Friday ordered unions that represent American Airlines mechanics not to interfere in the airline's operations. The judge's order came after American asked for a temporary restraining order to end what it considers an illegal work slowdown by mechanics that is causing delayed and cancelled flights. MORE

14 JUN 2019: A popular attraction at Chicago's tallest building was closed temporarily after minor cracking was found in the protective coating of its glass floor. A Willis Tower official says the coating acts as a screen protector and was replaced Monday night. The Ledge then reopened. The official said no one was ever in danger, but it’s scary stuff if you’re standing on the cracking glass. MORE

Carry on bag ignites at airport checkpoint

14 JUN 2019: Authorities at a West Virginia airport say a passenger's carry-on bag ignited as it was going through a security checkpoint. The Yeager Airport in Charleston says two lithium batteries attached to a charger in the bag caused a small explosion Wednesday. Airport police extinguished the flames, and the there were no injuries or flight delays. The passenger continued on to the flight. MORE
