01 DEC 2016: Sunwing CEO Stephen Hunter has announced, “with mixed feelings of gratitude and sadness” the retirement of Lawrence Elliott, group vice president, “and a key founding member of the Sunwing family.”
After over 40 years in the business, most of which were spent alongside the Hunter family, Elliott will be retiring on December 16.
“In his most recent venture with us,” said Hunter, “Lawrence joined Sunwing in 2002, when we launched Sunwing Vacations. At that critical time, his product knowledge and relationships were instrumental in helping establish product for the tour operator and for positioning Sunwing as a real contender and competitor in those nascent early years.”
As the Sunwing Travel Group evolved, Elliott’s role expanded to include corporate and governmental affairs spanning all lines of business, including not only the tour operator, but also the Airline and our hotel division.
He developed meaningful lasting relationships with governments throughout the countries where Sunwing does business and was a reliable and worthy representative for the company’s business interests throughout.
“Over his impressive career, Lawrence’s talents and steady style have caused him to be recognized as a leader in the industry and respected by his industry peers and government colleagues.” Said Hunter.
“Sunwing and the Hunter family wish to express our deep gratitude to Lawrence for his exemplary leadership and his countless personal and professional contributions to the Sunwing family.”
